PROTECT CIVILIAN LIVES IN SYRIA

Demand that Russia, Iran & Syria allow deployment of UN monitors into Aleppo and ensure safety for civilians in danger.

Join Amnesty’s call to Syria, Iran and Russia to urgently protect civilians in Syria.

CIVILIANS FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES

UPDATE (December 23, 2016): As evacuations finish and fighting ends in Aleppo, civilians remain at terrible risk of violence and reprisals. We must keep the pressure on for the rapid deployment of UN monitors to protect the people of Aleppo, and full access for humanitarian aid.

On December 13, in a matter of hours at least 82 civilians, including children, were shot on the spot by government and allied forces who entered their homes, or at gunpoint in the streets.

As the Syrian government takes full control of Aleppo, civilians are still at grave risk. Syria must allow UN monitors to be urgently deployed  to ensure that civilians and fighters who surrender are protected from execution-style killings, arbitrary detention, disappearance, torture

The lives of tens of thousands of people are in the hands of the Syrian, Russian and Iranian governments.

Join our urgent call for the deployment of UN monitors to protect people from harm, and full access for hunanitarian aid.

THE PEOPLE OF SYRIA
HAVE SUFFERED ENOUGH.

The brutal conflict in Syria has entered its sixth year with no end in sight. Thirty-five people “disappear” every day. Five people are killed every hour. And every twenty seconds another Syrian is forced to flee their home. Hospitals have been systematically targeted as a strategy of war.  This is now the world’s worst humanitarian catastrophe.

To the governments of Syria, Iran and the Russian Federation:

I urgently call on your governments to:

>> Ensure continued evacuation of civilians and unfettered humanitarian access to ensure life-saving aid can reach all those in need;

>> Allow UN monitors to be urgently deployed in Aleppo to ensure that civilians and fighters who surrender are protected from execution-style killings, arbitrary detention, disappearance, torture

I stand with the people of Syria who have now endured years of brutal armed conflict. Please act now to protect civilians.

 Yours sincerely,
